Miguel Aguirre

In Memoriam is a series conceived as a tribute and remind of the victims of March 11th attempt in Madrid.

At first, the process consists in isolate some photographs of the victims that -sent by their relatives – were published in significant dossiers by the Spanish newspapers La Vanguardia and El País. These photos concern to the everyday and familiar life of the missing, with their relatives and friends, in a pleasure trip snapshot or with their favourite pet, showing their more human and frequent aspect. Then, I paint these images respecting the original format of the newspaper and obviating the text that appeared with the photos.

The series -made in 2008- is composed by 22 oil paintings on paper.
